One of my biggest fears when I first tore my tendon was that I might never play or be active with my children again, or even stand to paint. But once my injury healed and I could stand again, I promised myself I would return to painting. Recently, thoughts of creating a new piece have been swirling in my mind. During the 1st month of the year, I found myself in the studio, pouring my heart into a canvas, layering colors repeatedly until doubts crept in. As I approached the finishing point of this project, I stared at it for an hour and a half, questioning if it was finished. Yet, this piece truly represents my journey; it brought me out of the darkness, reminding me that I can stand and create art again.
